The Thieke Family

Ah Fall.

There’s not much better. The colors, the cool crisp air, little pink noses, and warm coffee in cold hands.

The Thieke family hit a huge milestone this Fall, and their big girl turned ONE! And they wanted to remember her first year’s memories by celebrating with a family session. Check out our fall session together below.

Baby Myah ~ Kokomo Indiana Newborn Photographer

Sweet Myah’s mama chose some of my favorite colors for her session and I just have to share them. I love how bright and fun they are, combined with her gray nursery with the pops of color. See my favorites below!

The Manis Family ~ Kokomo, Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana family photography

This has probably been said a hundred times already but I’m going to say it again. The bugs this year are awful!!! I think every outdoor session I’ve done this year has ended with bug bite after bug bite. And that’s with bug spray.

These guys were troopers. The met me on a buggy buggy day at Jackson Morrow Park(where I think all the bugs of Kokomo must live) and we played in the woods, on the trails, and by the creek. Their session was lovely, and if you need any styling tips, this is a great session to take a look at for inspiration. Their outfit choices were simple but attractive, and they easily coordinated with one another, despite completely different materials and fabrics.

Check out some of my favorites from their session below. Thanks for hanging out with me Courtney, Ty, and Hayden!

Madison’s Maternity Session – Kokomo, Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana maternity photographer

You know when you meet a kindred spirit and feel instantly connected with them? But you just aren’t sure why? Madison and her husband Eric came all the way up from Indianapolis for her maternity session here in Kokomo. And though I didn’t know it at the time, we had more in common that I had anticipated.

We chose Jackson Morrow Park, as Madison thought they would enjoy using the playground for some fun and unique shots. The session was easy as pie and I felt at ease almost immediately. They were very easy to talk to and we seemed to have similar areas of humor and interest. And as we were walking between locations, I was casually asking Madison about her pregnancy(since I was pregnant also). We came to find out that not only were we delivering at the same hospital, with the same medical team, but that we also had the same exact midwife. What are the chances right?! And then later I came to find that she’s actually a pastor, and funnily enough, that same week my husband officially accepted his first position as a head pastor.

Their session ended with fun on the playground as planned and I felt like I had a new friend by the end of the session. Take a look at some of my favorite images from our time together below.

Holland’s Newborn Session ~ Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

indianapolis newborn photographer

So there’s a confession I have to make. I’ve been using Instagram for only about 4 months now 😁😁😁

I’m behind on the times I know. I couldn’t make myself use it consistently until recently, but I am SO glad I did. Because that’s how Holland’s sweet mama Kady found me!

Kady and Holland have quite the birth story. They made a huge move to Indianapolis, just a month prior to Holland’s due date. Expecting to have some time to get things settled and moved in to their new home, Holland decided to make her grand appearance a whole month early. And even though she was a month early, little girl was already 6 pounds!

They decided to do a newborn/lifestyle combo session, where we spend half of their session focusing on Holland in posed newborn photos, and the rest in lifestyle images throughout their living space. I was so surprised at the togetherness and overall calming presence of their home. You’d never know that they had only lived there for a month, much less having had a newborn arrive a month early living amidst unpacking. I’m STILL trying to get our nursery together(with only 3 weeks to go, yikes!). Basically they’re awesome and I hope they pass on some of their ease and skill when our little one gets here 😉 Take a look at some of my favorites from their session below.

Little Lady Violet — Kokomo Indiana Newborn Photographer

kokomo indiana newborn photographer

Oh sweet little girl. I’m am so so so happy that I got to know her and her sweet family! Violet was due to arrive soon after her beautiful cousin Esther, who I was also able to also meet and work with as one of my 2016 newborns. Both Esther and Violet’s families are very close and that’s made obvious upon meeting them.

One of my favorite favorite favorite props is a vintage quilt that I bought last year. There is an itty bitty antique shop run out of a small store front that is actually an elderly woman’s home in Kokomo Indiana. The quilt was hiding there just waiting for this purpose, and I was finally able to use the quilt last month at Violet’s session. It was just as perfect as I thought it would be! Check out sweet Violet’s little nursery below with some of my favorites from her session.

The Glover Family — Kokomo Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana photographer

A little over a year ago, I started the great journey into maternity photography. I started it off with a model call so that I could “practice” working with an expectant mama and also give back to someone that deserved a free photography session. Emily ended up answering the model call and her session turned out WONDERFUL. After working with her, I knew that maternity photography was for me.

This Fall, I had the pleasure of working with her yet again. And this time, she brought along her entire family, including her wee one that was still in a baby bump when I last saw her.

I wanted to showcase their session today because 1) they are the SWEETEST family 2) the outfit choices for the fall color tones are on point(high five Emily!) 3) their session in the perfect example of what we typically accomplish at a family session. All around their example is perfection.

So please enjoy their love and laughter from my favorites of their session below 🙂
