The Thieke Family

Ah Fall.

There’s not much better. The colors, the cool crisp air, little pink noses, and warm coffee in cold hands.

The Thieke family hit a huge milestone this Fall, and their big girl turned ONE! And they wanted to remember her first year’s memories by celebrating with a family session. Check out our fall session together below.

Baby Myah ~ Kokomo Indiana Newborn Photographer

Sweet Myah’s mama chose some of my favorite colors for her session and I just have to share them. I love how bright and fun they are, combined with her gray nursery with the pops of color. See my favorites below!

Madison’s Maternity Session – Kokomo, Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana maternity photographer

You know when you meet a kindred spirit and feel instantly connected with them? But you just aren’t sure why? Madison and her husband Eric came all the way up from Indianapolis for her maternity session here in Kokomo. And though I didn’t know it at the time, we had more in common that I had anticipated.

We chose Jackson Morrow Park, as Madison thought they would enjoy using the playground for some fun and unique shots. The session was easy as pie and I felt at ease almost immediately. They were very easy to talk to and we seemed to have similar areas of humor and interest. And as we were walking between locations, I was casually asking Madison about her pregnancy(since I was pregnant also). We came to find out that not only were we delivering at the same hospital, with the same medical team, but that we also had the same exact midwife. What are the chances right?! And then later I came to find that she’s actually a pastor, and funnily enough, that same week my husband officially accepted his first position as a head pastor.

Their session ended with fun on the playground as planned and I felt like I had a new friend by the end of the session. Take a look at some of my favorite images from our time together below.

Natural light is everything.

It makes all the differenceĀ in the world between a good session and a great session. Every natural light photographer knows how to manipulate and “chase” the light, to create and perfect their style of photographs. But I’m not going to lie, when I walk in to a home with big windows and find that it’s flooded with calm airy light, my heart sighs in contentment.

I met Michelle & Chad a few months back when they had their maternity session when they came to visit me in Kokomo, Indiana, where I’m based. They were(and are) adoringly in love and obviously anxious to meet their little one, who was to arrive just around the corner. Michelle wore a gorgeous wrapped floral print dress, and by doing so introduced me to Pink Blush(which I now HAVE to tellĀ all of my maternity clients aboutĀ because it’s amazing).

After their maternity session was completed, M&C invited me in to their home for a combination lifestyle/newborn session(my fav). And as soon as I walked in, I knew that my job was going to be very easy that day. Two new(awesome) parents, a squishy adorable baby, and all of the sun rays that I could have asked for.

Michelle & Chad, thank you for letting me in to your personal space during one of the most precious times of your life. I’m so so so happy with the preservation of these memories and you guys made it too easy.

See more of their session below.

The Sims Family ~ Kokomo Indiana Family Photographer

kokomo family photographer

Aren’t they beautiful? Aren’t we beautiful? Isn’t everything beautiful? Sessions like this catch my breath and remind me of why I so dearly love this career. Sweet smiles from little faces, with families that are smitten with each other in this crazy every day life.

The Sims Family woke up before dawn, gathered their little ones together, and met me for a sunrise session. Well, that sunrise did not disappoint. Loaded up on coffee, we started the morning together, and it was such an adventure. A friendly fisherman even discovered a turtle for us!

Thank you for hanging out with me guys! Here are some of my favorites from their session below.

Taelor & Brent — Kokomo Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana family photographer

Loved absolutely everything about this maternity session. Brent & Taelor just moved all the way to Indy and are expecting their first little one to arrive shortly! In addition to them being adorably in love, it just so happens that we share a mutual interest in ice cream. Which basically means they are awesome. Because love + ice cream. See some of my favs from their session below.

New Life

photo-1

I’ve had a green thumb, for about as long as I can remember. I grew up on a little flower farm, surrounded by hundreds of gorgeous blossoms each year. As kid’s we were often asked to help out with the weeds, to help separate the flowers, to plant new ones in pots, etc. It wasn’t much fun as a child but I’ve grown to appreciate the knowledge that those chores gave me(I never thought I’d say it, but thanks Mom and Dad).

This year that knowledge has a lot of significance since we’ve purchased our own home. In years past we have had different yard and gardening spaces. We had a little apartment porch garden, later we moved and had a borrowed garden space, and now we have our own little piece of the world to creative new life on.

I started our seedlings a couple weeks ago, and this week they have finally emerged. Their tiny delicate leaves poking through the damp earth and saying “Spring! It’s here!” What started as tiny seeds and common dirt, transformed into living things. And soon our kitchen will be bursting with fresh produce and herbs because of those tiny seeds.

kokomo family photographer

These littleĀ seedlings are scattered throughout our home in various windows so I see them often. They are in our bedroom window, on our stair well, in the sun room, the kitchen window, basically everywhere(sorry for the mess honey). And when I see them, I can’t help but think of the personal bit of “new life” that I’ve decided to plant thisĀ year.

I’ve stated in a previous post about the changes my little businessĀ is making this year, and each time I see those little plants, I’m happily reminded of them. Happily reminded of the little thoughts that just used to be seeds. Those thoughts are now seedlings of progress, and are soon to be fully grown and mature ideas. So many ideas. And I can’t wait to share them with you.
