The Manis Family ~ Kokomo, Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana family photography

This has probably been said a hundred times already but I’m going to say it again. The bugs this year are awful!!! I think every outdoor session I’ve done this year has ended with bug bite after bug bite. And that’s with bug spray.

These guys were troopers. The met me on a buggy buggy day at Jackson Morrow Park(where I think all the bugs of Kokomo must live) and we played in the woods, on the trails, and by the creek. Their session was lovely, and if you need any styling tips, this is a great session to take a look at for inspiration. Their outfit choices were simple but attractive, and they easily coordinated with one another, despite completely different materials and fabrics.

Check out some of my favorites from their session below. Thanks for hanging out with me Courtney, Ty, and Hayden!

Madison’s Maternity Session – Kokomo, Indiana Photographer

kokomo indiana maternity photographer

You know when you meet a kindred spirit and feel instantly connected with them? But you just aren’t sure why? Madison and her husband Eric came all the way up from Indianapolis for her maternity session here in Kokomo. And though I didn’t know it at the time, we had more in common that I had anticipated.

We chose Jackson Morrow Park, as Madison thought they would enjoy using the playground for some fun and unique shots. The session was easy as pie and I felt at ease almost immediately. They were very easy to talk to and we seemed to have similar areas of humor and interest. And as we were walking between locations, I was casually asking Madison about her pregnancy(since I was pregnant also). We came to find out that not only were we delivering at the same hospital, with the same medical team, but that we also had the same exact midwife. What are the chances right?! And then later I came to find that she’s actually a pastor, and funnily enough, that same week my husband officially accepted his first position as a head pastor.

Their session ended with fun on the playground as planned and I felt like I had a new friend by the end of the session. Take a look at some of my favorite images from our time together below.

Baby William ~ Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

Kokomo Indiana Family Photographer

Natural light is everything.

It makes all the difference in the world between a good session and a great session. Every natural light photographer knows how to manipulate and “chase” the light, to create and perfect their style of photographs. But I’m not going to lie, when I walk in to a home with big windows and find that it’s flooded with calm airy light, my heart sighs in contentment.

I met Michelle & Chad a few months back when they had their maternity session when they came to visit me in Kokomo, Indiana, where I’m based. They were(and are) adoringly in love and obviously anxious to meet their little one, who was to arrive just around the corner. Michelle wore a gorgeous wrapped floral print dress, and by doing so introduced me to Pink Blush(which I now HAVE to tell all of my maternity clients about because it’s amazing).

After their maternity session was completed, M&C invited me in to their home for a combination lifestyle/newborn session(my fav). And as soon as I walked in, I knew that my job was going to be very easy that day. Two new(awesome) parents, a squishy adorable baby, and all of the sun rays that I could have asked for.

Michelle & Chad, thank you for letting me in to your personal space during one of the most precious times of your life. I’m so so so happy with the preservation of these memories and you guys made it too easy.

The Sims Family ~ Kokomo Indiana Family Photographer

Aren’t they beautiful? Aren’t we beautiful? Isn’t everything beautiful? Sessions like this catch my breath and remind me of why I so dearly love this career. Sweet smiles from little faces, with families that are smitten with each other in this crazy every day life.

The Sims Family woke up before dawn, gathered their little ones together, and met me for a sunrise session. Well, that sunrise did not disappoint. Loaded up on coffee, we started the morning together, and it was such an adventure. A friendly fisherman even discovered a turtle for us!

Thank you for hanging out with me guys! Here are some of my favorites from their session below.

Taelor & Brent — Kokomo Indiana Photographer

Loved absolutely everything about this maternity session. Brent & Taelor just moved all the way to Indy and are expecting their first little one to arrive shortly! In addition to them being adorably in love, it just so happens that we share a mutual interest in ice cream. Which basically means they are awesome. Because love + ice cream. See some of my favs from their session below.

Thanks for coming out T&B!

Pretty pretty packages and more things to come… {Kokomo, Indiana Wedding Photographer}

Change.

I am so so so excited to announce some huge changes that are coming to Jessica Newton Photography. You guys. This month, is my four year anniversary as a professional photographer. Four years. Goodness me.

You know, I typically delete photos that I’ve shot after they are safely in the hands of their owners. They stay online in PASS galleries for up to 10 years so I see no need to keep 100+ weddings on my hard drive. But one thing that I absolutely can’t do and probably never will, is delete the 1st wedding that I ever shot.

I occasionally open that little invisible dusty drawer in the back of my hard drive. And I look at those photos and think about how simple things were. I was such a newb! I had no idea what I was getting into, what I was doing, or where I was headed. I answered a Craigslist ad looking for a wedding photographer and that’s how it started. I made so many rookie mistakes, but how thankful I am for that opportunity. That 1st wedding.

Big changes are coming. Changes that are bittersweet and I’m a little bit teary eyed to think of how much this may change this crazy, whimsy, little job that I’ve been grasping to now for four wonderful years. But Jessica Newton Photography has changed. It’s become something calm instead of crazy. Big instead of little. Still whimsy though. Whimsy in a way that makes me smile at the little-big job that gives me so much joy.

With all that being said, here is the 1st of many changes coming during the remainder of 2015.

presents-1

Omgosh, right? Isn’t is PRETTY? Introducing, your wedding photos 2.0.

I can’t tell you how much I love getting stuff in the mail. Seriously, I LIVE for packages that arrive from sellers on Etsy. They always come in these cute little boxes or bags, with a hand written note or thank you from the shop owner. Perfect. It’s the perfect way to say thank you. In the future, clients choosing select packages, will be mailed a personalized package, hand assembled by me, when their photos are completed. Filled with all kinds of loveliness.

A small gift from me to you, to say that I love brown paper packages too. And to say thank you. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of one of the most important days of your life. Thank you for choosing me when you could have chosen someone else. Thank you.
