Baby Kayden ~ Kokomo, Fishers, Lafayette & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

I don’t mean to brag but our clients have the cutest squishiest most adorable babies you guys.

I’m serious.

The amount of beautiful babies that have come through our Kokomo Indiana photography studio doors this month is just unreal and we feel so so so honored to have worked with you all!

Kayden was ah-mazing during his newborn session. If I remember correctly, he snoozed through the entire ordeal and we were able to do so many setups with him.

His mama requested neutrals for his session as well as a photo of little guy wearing his Daddy’s dog tags and you guys know how much I love neutrals. They look good and every baby and the tones with their skin is always soft and dreamy. So we did quite a few neutral and muted tones and matched up similar colors with the dog tags.

Here are some of my favorites of little guy and his parents. And if you want to see the most adorable military baby photo ever, scroll to the end.

Aric & Kristin’s Maternity Story ~ Kokomo & Indianapolis Maternity Photographer

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmassssssss. There is nothing in the world like getting an email from a previous bride and groom, informing me that they are expecting their first little one. I met Kristin and Aric waaaaay back(in 2015 right guys?) when they were a part of Cassie & Scott’s wedding party. The following year, I photographed K&A’s wedding, so you can believe my excitement when they informed me earlier this year that they were due in February of 2019!

They knew that they wanted to use a local Christmas tree farm, since Kristin’s maternity session would be done just prior to Christmas. Dull’s Tree Farm in Thornton Indiana is my all time favorite tree farm, and I actually had my own family photos done there a couple years back. Even though we live in Kokomo Indiana we make the drive every year because it truly is the best Christmas Tree Farm in the area. It turned out to be the perfect location and the weather was that wintery overcast kind of day, reflecting that true look of Christmas with some hot chocolate and snuggles to add to it.

Kristin and Aric ended their session with some fun wreaths that they had purchased from Dull’s while they were there(she placed it over her belly at the end of our session, it was so cute!). And much to my surprise, they had also ordered some table centerpieces, one of which they gifted to me! Gift giving this time of year makes the season so sweet and I love buying that “perfect” gift for others. It’s always a surprise and incredibly sweet to receive a “perfect” gift from Clients. Thanks for helping decorate my dining room table for Christmas K&A! And thanks for trekking out to Dull’s Tree Farm with me, I love how your photography session turned out <3

Baby Elvie’s Fresh 48 Story ~ Marion Indiana Newborn Photographer

I’m soooooo in love with Baby Elvie and her Fresh 48 photography session. This was my first time visiting the labor and delivery ward of Marion General Hospital and it didn’t disappoint. The recovery room was a beautiful mint green and it went soooo well with Elvie’s white muslin swaddle and big bow. I was even able to sneak in a little bit of video which you can find below <3

Baby Harper ~ A Fresh 48 Session Story ~ Indianapolis Indiana Birth Photographer

Fresh 48 and Birth sessions are my absolute favorite. Every time I walk into a hospital, my heart sings with joy and anticipation. Although it’s not my birth or my little squishy babe that has arrived, all of those feelings and emotions come back to me from my own birth stories and I can feel what my clients are feeling. The new day, the exhaustion, the excitement, the hazy dreams, the smells, the sounds, they never truly leave my being. The Robinson Family was gracious enough to invite me into to their own little heavenly space, to preserve memories of Baby Harper at just one day old. Here are some highlights of her earliest moments.

Baby Myah ~ Kokomo Indiana Newborn Photographer

Sweet Myah’s mama chose some of my favorite colors for her session and I just have to share them. I love how bright and fun they are, combined with her gray nursery with the pops of color. See my favorites below!

Holland’s Newborn Session ~ Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

indianapolis newborn photographer

So there’s a confession I have to make. I’ve been using Instagram for only about 4 months now 😁😁😁

I’m behind on the times I know. I couldn’t make myself use it consistently until recently, but I am SO glad I did. Because that’s how Holland’s sweet mama Kady found me!

Kady and Holland have quite the birth story. They made a huge move to Indianapolis, just a month prior to Holland’s due date. Expecting to have some time to get things settled and moved in to their new home, Holland decided to make her grand appearance a whole month early. And even though she was a month early, little girl was already 6 pounds!

They decided to do a newborn/lifestyle combo session, where we spend half of their session focusing on Holland in posed newborn photos, and the rest in lifestyle images throughout their living space. I was so surprised at the togetherness and overall calming presence of their home. You’d never know that they had only lived there for a month, much less having had a newborn arrive a month early living amidst unpacking. I’m STILL trying to get our nursery together(with only 3 weeks to go, yikes!). Basically they’re awesome and I hope they pass on some of their ease and skill when our little one gets here 😉 Take a look at some of my favorites from their session below.

Indianapolis & Kokomo Indiana Newborn Photographer — Miss Serena

kokomo indiana newborn photographer

This past Christmas we were visiting our family in Louisville, and I had a conversation with my sister in law about newborn photography. She asked me if I had ever turned down a session before due to it being “outside of your style”. And I said most definitely.

Sometimes I receive Client requests that are far outside of what I typically do during a session. So much so that I have to push myself a little bit in my thinking and style, just to point where I’m a tad uncomfortable. And sometimes even to the point that I have to refer a prospective client to another photographer that can better meet their needs.

But I love a good challenge 😉 And it isn’t very often that I feel the need to refer clients out. I love trying to mix my Client’s styles and needs with that of my own style, and with a recent session, that’s exactly what we did. A sweet expectant mama had shown me some pictures of their littles one’s nursery. It was focused around a mermaid theme with some teals, cremes, pinks, and purples. This was also outside of my style but I felt it could be made into my style and her style easily with a little bit of TLC. I ended up making some headbands especially for the session and they turned out just how I wanted.

In the end, it turned out just how we had pictured. Little miss mermaid was born and she was the sleepiest scrunchiest babe. Purple was her color and cremes were her friend. She looked gorgeous in no matter what setup we placed her in. Thanks for working with me on her session sweet mama! It was so much fun!
